I had a Garmin GPS III + last, which had been very useful for many years but it was time for a more up-to-date device. I looked at several reviews before I decided on the Nuvi. I was leaning towards some cheaper units from some different brands until I looked at the screen size and lots of comments on the other units not having good routing algorithms and not allowing for recalculations if you go off the route. This was a major selling point for me. I like to treat the GPS directions as indications, not as the only choice of route so I loved that I could miss a turn and it would give me a route in the direction I was headed.
The points of interest did take me a couple hours to figure out completely but now I can copy waypoints from my old GPS II + onto my Nuvi 610.
I plan on using the Nuvi 610 for work, to get me where I need to be at each day on time. It’s a big responsibility but so far it seems to be doing a better job than I did at it.

I’m at an age now where directions don’t stay in my head for any length of time. I treated myself to the Garmin Nuvi 610 so my old brain could take a break. It was one of the best purchases I have ever made. It was easy to set up even for me and if I did it, you can sure do it. I didn’t even need the instructions, just turned it on and went from there. The map display and spoken directions are very simple to follow. Having your route recalculated at a wrong turn makes it so I’m never going the wrong way and I and my wife have never argued less. If you’re looking for a satellite navigation system then don’t hesitate, this is a wonderful device.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 610 based on reviews I read on the internet. This was the first GPS device I ever bought and I really didn’t know what I was looking for. I used my Garmin 610 for the first time yesterday and it worked like a charm. It got me to where I was going with absolutely no problems along the way. Even when I came to construction and had to detour, as soon as I turned off path the Nuvi recalculated and I continued on my way. This really took the stress out of trying to figure out where I was going and allowed me to concentrate on driving. It’s an excellent product. I would thoroughly recommend it.

This small device is all you may need when you’re on the road. It’s useful to use in taxi mode which gives you route where you can use taxi and bus lanes and has the perfect connection with my Motorola Razr. The garmin nuvi 610t is probably perfect companion when taking a trip or if you make a living driving. It has been instrumental in my vehicle and I can’t imagine life without this incredibly useful and feature filled companion

The wide display makes the interface much more easy to navigate compared to the Garmin 3XX series.
It fits in your pocket while it’s inside the leather carry case it came with, with a size similar to that of a PDA. The widescreen mount is pretty small and easy to attach so it’s easy to take off. This will help prevent thieves from thinking you have a GPS in your car.
Another nice security feature like all the other Garmin GPS units come with is the “Garmin Lock” which is a PIN that you set and have to put in before it starts working.
If your phone is Bluetooth enabled you can combine it with the 610 for hands-free calls. I’ve made a call while driving by using the voice dialing on my phone and it makes things so much easier.
Other features include an MP3 player and photo viewer. You can load MP3’s or images to the 610′s internal memory off of an SD card. You can also purchase tourist guides and audiobooks that play on the device via the Garmin website.
To get the most out of the Nuvi 610 you will need an internet connection so you can get all the map updates.
The Garmin Nuvi 610 is definitely worth getting if you want a nice small satellite navigation device with maps of the UK and Ireland and has a lot of features.
